We provide all the training and access to the examinations required for the  Licensing Act (Scotland) 2005.
 
We also can provide tailored training for your staff to comply with the mandatory training required for all staff working in the industry (Subject to minimum Numbers)
We provide food safety training for retail and catering to ensure that staff have the skills and knowledge to operate safely and competently in the preperation, storage and sale of high risk foods.

This course is required by anyone wanting to apply for a Personal Licence.

The course covers the following;

 

  • Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005

  • Overview of the licensing function and licensing objectives

  • Key roles and licensing boards

  • Licences and operating conditions

  • Protection of children from harm

  • Control orders

  • Staff Training and the legislation

  • Associated law

  • Alcohol and illegal drugs

  • Social responsibility

  • Community links

 

The course consists of;

6 hours training

1 hour  40 multiple choice question style exam

All candidates must bring photographic ID with them on the day of the course.

This course must be completed by Personal Licence Holders before the fifth aniversary of when their Personal Licence was issued.  The Personal Licence holder must sit and pass this course then inform the Licence Board that issued their Personal Licence. 

Failure to comply with this part of the legislation will result in a Personal Licence being revoked and potentially a premises being unable to sell alcohol.

  • Licensing objectives

  • Understanding the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005

  • Legal changes since the introduction of the Act

  • Licences and operating conditions

  • Application procedures

  • Protecting children from harm

 

The course consists of;

3 hours training

1 hour 40 multiple choice question style exam

All candidates must bring photographic ID with them on the day of the course.

All staff working in the licensed trade, whether full time, part time or even unpaid must undergo 2 hours training covering 16 prescribed topics before they start their duties.

 

The course consists of:

2 hours training

20 minute multiple choice question style exam

The SCLPS certificate covers both "On and "Off" Trade.

We can provide clients with staff training tailored to their business which meets the requirements of the legislation without the danger of staff being confused with the differences between "On and "Off" trade legislation. Company policies can be incorporated into the course.

At the end of the training session candidates will be put through a 30 minute multiple choice question style exam which will then be immediately checked and any errors reviewed with the candidate. The mandatory staff training declaration will then be signed off by the candidate and the trainer.

HABC Level 2 award in Food Safety for Retail (QFC)
HABC Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering (QCF)

Level 2 (Foundation): For high risk food handlers

These qualifications are suitable for anyone who works with food and  has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensure that the food they serve or sell is perfectly safe to eat.

HABC Level 3 award in Food Safety  Supervision for Retail (QFC)
HABC Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering (Refresher)

This Qualification is required for managers and supervisors in retail businesses of all sizes involved with preparartion, storage and sale of high risk foods.

Particularly relevant for those who have to develop or monitor HACCP-based food safety management procedures and systems

All candidates who have taken the Level 2 Awards in Food Safety are recommended to take a refresher course three years after completion.
